Different Styles of Foam For Cases

Convoluted Foam

Overview: Convoluted foam might be considered the most convenient and economical foam offered to protect your items. While other foams require cutting, convoluted foam is simple. Simply lay the part in the case and the foam will squish around the item.

Pros:
Quick turn around time (1-2 days)
Very universal and can be used for multiple parts
Inexpensive.
Cons:
Part has the potential to shift during transit which could cause damage
Since the the convolute is the same height everywhere, added stress could be placed on parts which are taller while not enough pressure given to lower parts

Customizable Foam

Overview: Customizable Foam is a cheap and simple do it yourself solution to fit your items in foam. If you are patient and take your time to create the perfect cavity, Customizable Foam can be great for you. On the downside, the foam can breakdown over time and become less effective.

Pros:
Quick turn around time (2-3 days)
Inexpensive
Products get their own cavity
Cons:
Aesthetics
Will fall apart over time

Layered Foam / Flat Foam Pads

Overview: Layered foam, also referred to as Flat Foam is another available option of foam for cases. Flat foam is cut to a specific length width and depth often consisting of multiple layers, but no cuts on the inside. Items going in the case can simply lay on the foam to be cut by the customer to fit specific parts. Be careful if you are planning on cutting foam though, as it can be difficult to do by hand.

Pros:
Quick turn around time (1-3 days)
Gives the customer full control of design and labor
Inexpensive
Cons:
Foam is difficult to cut by hand
Aesthetics

Case Club Custom Foam

Overview: This brings us to our custom foam inserts. Notice any difference in this picture vs.. the one above? All the equipment is identical. However, look at the detail of our insert. There are no gaps where the foam isn’t touching the rifle. Since foam is touching every part, there are no pressure points on the rifle. This provides the best protection. The scope at that top has no way to even shift. Anyone lucky enough to get a look will be impressed by the craftsmanship.

Pros:
Best protection offered in the industry
Aesthetics
Price (Guaranteed lower than the competition)
Cons:
More expensive than Convolute, Customizable Foam, & Flat Foam
Longer turn around time (7-10 days)

Foam Lined

Overview: Foam lined cases offer a universal solution to certain packaging requirements. Often we want to use the same case, but need different inserts for different parts. Although convolute foam will work great for items such as pistols or tools, sometime we need more open space in the case with rather than filling it completely with foam. Foam lining a case gives us the middle ground we are searching for. Foam lined cases are great for storing cables, accessories and non delicate parts. Also if you plan on wrapping your own parts in bubble wrap or similar material, a foam lined shipping case will give cushion against the walls of the case while also offering a heavy duty exterior to protect valuables during transit.

Pros:
Universal fit
Inexpensive & easy to install
Price (Guaranteed lower than the competition)
Cons:
Not perfectly form fitting so parts need to be more durable
